We encourage all families to tour our facility in order to get a feel for the Montessori style of education and our approach to individualized instruction. A CVMS education is designed to fit each child, rather than expecting the child to fit the program. Education for the Whole Child
CVMS is Cedar Rapids’ only 5-day-a-week Montessori Preschool/Kindergarten.
In keeping with the philosophy of Dr. Montessori, we believe that education nurtures the intellectual, physical, emotional, moral, and spiritual needs of children. The Montessori environment is designed to develop a child’s essential attributes such as curiosity, empathy, creativity, self-discipline, independence, responsibility, leadership, and civility.
Location & Facilities
We are centrally located in downtown Cedar Rapids and are easily accessible from I-380.
Located in the heart of downtown Cedar Rapids with seven newly remodeled, spacious, natural light-filled classrooms, a large, multi-use indoor atrium and gymnasium, a securely fenced outdoor play area, outdoor patio and a state-of-the-art security system.
Qualified Faculty & Staff
Each of CVMS’ five, multi-ages classrooms of 3- to 6-year-olds is guided by an educator who has both a four-year college degree as well as Montessori certification from the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the North American Montessori Center (NAMC). This teacher is also aided by a Montessori-trained Directress and Assistant.
