There are two different options from which to choose:

Both sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wraparound childcare and lunch are not available for children enrolled in the Toddler Community.
Primary Program : Children Ages 3-6
The Primary Program is a five-day-a-week, Montessori program for children ages three to six years old.
The primary program provides an enriching developmental experience in an environment that encourages personal respect and responsible freedom. Our classes also offer socialization and formal learning experiences for the very young child. Gross and small motor coordination activities, singing, stories, learning units and manipulation materials keep the child happy, busy and stimulated.
There are three options for the Primary Program:
- Morning Only
- Extended Day
- Full Day
Morning Only | Monday – Friday | 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Children are eligible for the Morning Program when they turn three.
Wraparound childcare is available to Morning Only students.
Extended Day | Monday – Friday | 8:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Children are eligible for the Extended Day program when they turn four. CVMS offers this program for the four- to six-year-old child who enjoys a longer work period to extend morning activities. The longer day provides an opportunity for in-depth pursuit of core subject areas and for encouraging the child’s own interests and curiosity. All children in the Extended Day program will be with the same classroom and teachers morning and afternoon. Extended Day may also be used as a Kindergarten option for children in their third year at CVMS.
Full Day | Monday – Friday | 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Children ages three to six who are enrolled in either the Morning Only or Extended Day are eligible for the Full Day program. CVMS offers the Full Day program for families who are interested in taking advantage of a school day that begins at 7:30 a.m and ends at 6 p.m. The Full Day program includes three Montessori work cycles lead by a Lead Directress, Directress and Assistant.
Bridge Program : Children Ages 6+
Children in their fourth year at CVMS or those who are turning six in their third year are eligible to participate in the Bridge Program.
The Bridge Program, taught by a faculty member who holds Lower Elementary Montessori certification. Children will be enrolled in the Extended Day program with their lead teachers two days a week. The other two days will be spent in the Bridge enrichment program, which is an integrated unit of study of the 5 Great Lessons, a series of five imaginative stories that give students an overall impression of the grand topics of the universe, the earth, and life on earth. Children involved in the Bridge Program also participate in off-site excursions to downtown arts, music and cultural venues and Cedar Rapids-area educational facilities.
