Stacy Cataldo has served as Head of School at Cedar Valley Montessori School since 2010.
Stacy is an accomplished educator, having taught in both the traditional and the Montessori school settings. Her expertise includes recognizing the developmental stages of children, constructing and implementing a child centered education plan, and managing the partnership between the classroom Lead Directresses, Directresses, Assistants and parents to achieve the objectives. Her core strengths include observation, listening and mediation. She delights in introducing new families to CVMS through tours and conversation.
As a professional educator since 1992, Stacy has quietly and consistently touched thousands of children’s lives, impacting their learning and character. In 2003, she found her home at CVMS, serving as a lead teacher until 2007. She took a brief reprieve from the classroom and returned in 2010 to serve as Head of School.
With the support of the CVMS Board of Directors, Stacy was responsible for the school’s return to downtown Cedar Rapids following the flood of 2008. Stacy was instrumental – and adamant – that CVMS return to downtown in order to add to the vibrant and diverse community life and so students could experience it for themselves.
Stacy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from St. Norbert College. Her professional affiliations include the North American Montessori Teacher’s Association, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and the International Montessori Council.
