CVMS is proud to offer additional co-curricular programing that complements the Montessori teaching philosophy. These programs take place during CVMS hours of operation, allowing families to schedule co-curricular activities on-site during the day instead of during evening hours. Tiny Techies
Ages: 3-6, every Friday from 2:30-3:15 p.m. ($40/month)

Tiny Techies is taught by CVMS parent Samantha Dahlby, a former software engineer and the current K-12 Education Coordinator at NewBoCo. Tiny Techies will help students build computational thinking and problem solving skills, be creative, and practice working together. Samantha loves merging fun, engaging activities with mini-educational lessons to get kids asking “why” and digging deeper.

Art Club
Ages: 3-6

Art Club will incorporate the mediums of chalk, pastels, clay, paint and seasonal projects while serving as a self-confidence booster for children, further developing their fine motor skills, igniting imagination, and encouraging exploration and self-discovery. Art Club is designed to help your children express how they see the world through creative play.

French Classes
Ages: 3-4, every Thursday from 2:30-3:00 p.m., 30-minute classes ($30/month)
Ages: 4-6, every Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30-3:30 p.m., 60-minute classes ($75/month)
CVMS Alumni: one Wednesday per month from 4:15-5:15 p.m., 60-minute class ($25/month)

French Classes will be taught by Sally de Boisfossé, a directress in the Redwood Room. In addition to her Bachelor’s degree in French and Education from Principia College, Sally has more than eight years of experience in teaching foreign languages to children. The class is taught using an immersion approach, meaning your child will be spoken to entirely in French. Through songs, stories, games, art, and many collaborative activities, your child will not only learn basic French but also gain a better understanding of French-speaking cultures and traditions around the world. Piano Classes
Ages: 4 and up
Days: variable, beginning in October

Piano classes are taught by Abby Kokontis-Griffith, a Directress in the Lilac Room. Abby holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Coe College and was awarded the prestigious Charles Bart Houser Memorial Music Award upon graduation, given to a music major for outstanding performance on an acoustic musical instrument. Daytime Dancers
Ages: 3 and up
Days: Tuesdays from 2:30 – 3:15 p.m., beginning in October

Taught by Cassie Oberhoffer, the philosophy of Daytime Dancers is to introduce the art of dance and movement into your child’s life from an early age. This unique program offers fun, flexible opportunities for you and your family, offering introductory jazz, tap and ballet classes during convenient daytime hours from the comfort of the school you already trust. Cassie is a 2010 graduate of Coe College. While at Coe she studied elementary education and child development, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education. Ages 3 and up
Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m.

Yoga benefits children in so many ways, especially at the beginning of their school day. Your child will learn the art of yoga through play, movement, breathing techniques, storytelling, song, relaxation and meditation. Class is taught by Sarah Cram Driscoll, a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Sarah is also a musician and works with The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy. Little Sports Torts
Ages: 3 and up
Fridays at 2:30 p.m.3:00 p.m.3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., beginning in September each year

Save your nights and weekends for family time while still giving your child a chance to participate in sporting programs. Little Sports is an introductory sports program for 3-6 year olds, teaching them the fundamentals of each sport in a fun environment. Age appropriate drills and equipment allow for participants to have immediate success to help build their confidence in playing sports. Programs are offered all school year long, register at Hover over Locations on the top of the page and choose Cedar Valley Montessori School to find the registration for each Little Sports option. Users must create an account with Little Sports to register on-line. Program cost is $45/program and each program is 5 weeks long.
