“If help and salvation are to come, they can only come from the children, for the children are the makers of men.”
Micah serves as a building floater, helping to support the needs of all classrooms. She also assists with curriculum materials. Micah received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in linguistics, with a Spanish minor. She also earned both an Associate of Arts degree in liberal arts and an Associate of Applied Science degree in exercise science from Kirkwood Community College.
Micah previously served as an Americorp Reading Tutor in the Iowa City School District. She has also worked as a camp counselor for Kirkwood's Summer KICK Camp program. She enjoys attending fitness classes, training for 5k races, reading books written in Spanish, and watching mystery and detective shows.
“The Montessori philosophy that all children are unique and should not be expected to learn in exactly the same way or at the same pace is a refreshing approach to learning,” she shared. “I also love the freedom children have to pursue their interests. Developing internal motivation through the Montessori approach will help better prepare children for adult life.”
