Marcia Hughes is a proven leader in the fields of communication, community relations, and development. Her 20-year tenure with the Cedar Rapids Community School District included positions leading project-based learning, volunteer management and 13 years as the District Communications/Community Relations Supervisor, where she was responsible for engaging and communicating to the District’s more than 16,000 students and families. She is a founder of the AMERICA READS: Reading Is Contagious literacy program which annually connects community with classroom to celebrate the joy of reading.
Marcia also has extensive experience in the non-profit community in the areas of development and volunteer service and management. Marcia has the utmost respect for educators and recognizes the importance of Maria Montessori’s philosophy.

Marcia received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, with a minor in vocal music performance, from Northwest Missouri State University.
