Community is the foundation of CVMS and parent involvement is a cornerstone of our school’s success.
Parents or family members who are interested in volunteering have the opportunity to become involved in one or more of the following opportunities listed below. Volunteer schedules are also posted on the volunteer board in the CVMS atrium. Background checks and fingerprinting are required for all CVMS volunteers and are facilitated yearly.
Reading Partners gives students more practice as they learn to read. This can be done in the morning or afternoon, any day of the week.
Cooking With Kids
This activity assists children in learning basic cooking concepts such as measuring and mixing while exposing them to different kinds of foods. With your guidance, students prepare their own snacks. Cooking With Kids happens one week each month in the mornings.
Snacks for Staff
Give our teachers and staff an ongoing ‘thank you’ for all of their hard work by providing snacks for them once a week throughout the year. This doesn’t have to be fancy but a little something for the teachers and staff to munch on during the day. Sign up for a certain date, and you will receive an email reminder a few days prior to when the snacks are needed. If you are unable to provide a snack that week, you may decline.
Parent Work Days
Help prepare materials for the classrooms on the first Thursday morning of each month. Parents gather at CVMS to do everything from trace “punch outs” on construction paper, to make copies, to cut lengths of yarn for sewing. The teachers will provide guidance as to what needs to be done and how. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents and socialize.
